:/ i don't know why it doesn't work, it should You can try on linux on XSane with SANE package. My gt68xx.device is the port of the latest gt68xx SANE backend so if it does work on linux there is problem with morphos port. If it doesn't there is problem with Your scanner. I'll be in shop with old computer parts where i saw this scanner. If it costs less than about 3 euro (it should) i'll buy it and test in home :)
btw. change mode from gray to something else, maybe it will work

I have a Artec Ultima 2000, that comes up as a PID=4001 in poseidon.
According to the compatibility pages for SANE this will not work, but since you have a native MOS driver will this work?
Thanks!

@matt3
no, pid=2001 uses different chip. Like gfx cards with nvidia and radeon. Different chips == different drivers |

EpsonUSB update : !!!!!! :) http://aminet.net/driver/other/epsonusb_morphos.lha
this driver is heavily bugfixed so it shouldn't crash/hits like previous one (bad linux code...). It uses new usb api and doesn't require usbraw.device so rawwrap.class have to be unbound from Scanner in Poseidon Prefs. |

Sorry, but the new epsonusb does not work here. Removed binding from Epson Perfection 1650 (now it is bound to NONE). Tried with new epsonusb.device.
Log can be found here:
www.exception-dev.de/dev/scandal.log
With older versions and raw.class everything was ok.
Also restarted Morphos, the scanner was bound to none, but same result.

@zukow
[...]
forget all i wrote. I had to select at device and driver the epsonusb.device and change the config file in s: to
mos:> cat s:epson.conf # Copy this file to S, if you want to use an Epson USB Scanner # # Task of the file: # make the EpsonUSB.device driver use USB routines. # if you want to use it with a SCSI connected scanner, # just rename S:epson.conf to S:epson.conf_inact and # reboot or end fxSCAN and perform "avail flush" #usb EPSON usb poseidon:1208:272
Sorry for the mistake! Everything is fine now!
THX!

final 1.3 version should be release in two days :)
if you want to do some testing: http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/scandal_beta.lha
device prefs are moved to prefs window, you can select save path and plugin path in this prefs too (progdir:plugins should be selected). Plugins are working in preview mode only now. Pdf saver is fixed, jpeg saver is fixed. DPI handlin is fixed. Plugins are not compatible with current Sketch public version so do not move it to sketch plugins directory. They will be included (maybe) in next sketch release. Plugins work only with morphos 2.0.

I will download and do some testing using my CanoScan N1220U USB scanner as soon as I can find a few free moments. I hope it works, that would be a great addition to have my unused old scanner working again on my MorphOS2.4 powered G4 MacMini and my OS3.9 A1200/060 w/Subway USB controller.
Thanks for all the work you have put into this.

@roschmyr
friend of mine lent me Epson 1260 so i finally could start working on plustek.device :), bad news is that this backend use fork/pthread so i must write own thread code
BTW i've made new Sketch/SCANdal plugin which use rewritten curve class from Kiero's Showgirls: http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/curves.plugin.lha

I got a hold of a free CanoScan FB630U scanner (the model number is reported by Trident -- there's no markings on the scanner itself). I've been following this thread but have no idea if this scanner is supported or even how to get it to work if it were.
The Betascan archive contains (as far as I can tell) one driver: scanmakerE3.device. There's a separate archvie that has a Canon driver called (appropriately) canon.device. This is from 1999!
When I plug the USB scanner into the Mac Mini, the information shows it's not bound to any class.
So, what should my 'Scanner driver,' 'Device,' and 'Unit' be?

status update:
i'm working on new drivers (plustek, genesys) but i dont have many time for it and i have both in non working versions i've prepared new scandal beta http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/scandal_beta.lha news: - crop - autofilter - fixes - reggae loader (ony 150 dpi, i'll add dpi reading from images or asking for it)
i'm living now in a new flat having powerbook only and i have access to my pegasos during weekends so major coding speed up will be after releasing morphos for powerbooks :D |
