Hello Skolman and welcome. I know what the command does, but i don't understand what the benefits are, and most ppl here don't speak polish. Care to explain?

Does this speed up 68k emulation on MOS Powerup systems? Could you elaborate a bit further?
I will do some benchmarking anyway. |

This can be considered the official MorphOS Team response
- Hacking Trance priority is not recommended. The perceived advantages come with a price: Anything else running at low priority will be blocked.
- The only advantage to get from these priority games comes from the fact that JIT translation is not delayed. However, this results in easily visible system jerkyness.
- Trance priority is low for a reason: JIT translation is complex operation and Trance can potentially keep the CPU 100% busy for a long time. To make sure the JIT operation doesn't bog down the whole system, low priority was chosen.
- If you choose to play tricks with the priority, you're doing this at your own risk. |

Hi Piru
"- Trance priority is low for a reason: JIT translation is complex operation and Trance can potentially keep the CPU 100% busy for a long time. To make sure the JIT operation doesn't bog down the whole system, low priority was chosen."
this is exacly what i thought when i read this thread. (although what many thinks, i have a great respect and consideration for the MOS Team.... as programmers)
Anyway (only because i'm "curious like a monkey") i've tryed myself.
Whats the results? no clue honest! (apart that i can change Trance pri only through Scout) |
