MorphUp 1.0 Bounty release

Now, after 6 month of developement and 1 month after the deadline, MorphUp 1.0 is finaly avail!
I want to thanks all donators for their help as well as all other people that give me feedback or supported this project in other ways...

- Can handle file size up to (the DOS limitation of) 2 GB.
- Extraction of files without the need of unpacking the whole package.

Hi, great software. I tried it as an end user but unfortunately I found little or no use for it.

Unless I didn't look far enough, there is no central repository of updates, no co-ordination with any developers to all get their stuff online so it can be used by MorphUP, no listing of what software you can actually update with this program, no apparent co-operation from the MOS team that this software will be the official "OS Update" method, like AmiUpdate will be on OS4, etc...

Great idea and you've done great work, but I have been unable to actually do anything with this software as of yet. Maybe it is too early, but it would be very nice to see, for example, all MOS updates and MUI MCC updates on this, so people could find it very easy to keep an up-to-date system.

Don't get me wrong - MOS needs something like MorphUP...I just hope it can become what it needs to be. Like Apple's Software Update or Windows Update.

I think it is just early... without the software being available, no one will support it... Unlike Microsoft or Apple's update systems, this is a user based initiative. There is no exec making the decision company wide. I think given time and development, Morphup can gain the support from the rest of the community's developers... but give it some time first.

This is a great application. What we need now like mentioned above are more developers to support it. It needs to get pushed. I would like to see the author get in touch with the aminet maintainers and see if they will agree to support it. Its a perfect place that hosts most everything now. If that wont work then someone could agree to host every file and post the database file. I bet that could be done here on Morphzone for the new stuff with no trouble at all. Lets get to work and put a very good tool to use.

MorphOS is Amiga done right!

I'm actually at a loss for a purpose of a package manager. If you take any of the Linux distros as an example, they operate in a pittiful manner - I wouldn't think for a moment that MorphUp has all the downsides of a Linux one (ie: install into a single location only, not easy to install more than one copy of the same thing), unless there is a MorphUp for multiple OSs, what use is it? I download software for my MorphOS machine from several machines (not all running MorphOS) as well as several locations (home? work? friends?).

Sorry to be negative, but I *love* the way that the standard Amiga installer works - it does what I want in the way I want it to work.

You've missed the point. MorphUp is not only for installing. It is also for gathering scattered software and for network update. On the other hand, maybe you love the way Installer work, but I hate writing Installer scripts. So given a choice "write Installer script or use MorphUp" I will never choose Installer.

Could it be that MorphUp doesnt include the .info file of the root directory if I say "Add directory incl. Rootdirectory..." while creating a .pmi?

ACK!!! first day in 2 months I get the ability to reset up my morphos system to use and get goign right. I click on the link provided to DL the morphup and the link does not work :(

Nice work. I like having new stuff show up when I launch it! I just wish more developers used it to post new stuff and all the current stuff they have. Its so easy to use for insatalling applications.

How hard is it to get a package together? Talking to a few developers that I wont name say they dont want to be bothered with building up all the things they have again to be in the format MorphUp can use.
