Anything new for the VGPHD update for VGP2 will be listed here. As always, let me know if there is anything wrong. I do not have a lot of time to playtest as I work constantly and have a Wife and 3 Kids. Also, the tools to mod this game are very limited, so please do not expect perfection. Thanks go out to all of you for your continued support.

See the Official VGPHD site at this link for more downloads and other information about the project.

Thanks for your remarkable work! I appreciate so much although I can't test anything due to the fact I lost my VGP2 game  (I erased my HD trying to install Linux the first time using "parted"... What a tenderfoot!! :-) )
But what I can see it's a quality work. Keep up.. when you can... ;-)
P.S: I tryed to download again the game but It's no more available. Any Idea?!?

Jambalah: go to http://www.pegasosforum.de/dload.php and "Spiele" from there.

JaguarGod: I tried your Barcelona track when the real race was coming, but I got trashed gfx after one lap.. always when the second lap was about to start. Maybe I ran out of gfx mem? Happened with ld version too. I have 64M Radeon 7500.. and 512M mem in my Pegasos1.

jPV: this is a well known problem of the Radeon driver in the current
public release when pushed to its limits (to me, it happens also with
fuhquake if I use the hires gfx and sometimes with Warsow) and AFAIK
has been cured for the 2.0 release. So it will soon - 4 weeks max - be
the past also for us, and we'll enjoy VGPHD at his best.

Kind regards,
Andrea

Hi all,

Playing almost every day the Melbourne and then Hockenheim HD tracks. Monza is good, Indianapolis was my earlier favorite, but is now nicer to play. However, the road is maybe to dark, on the other hand, it has a real Californian look. For the car skins, i switched to the low res textures. Anyways, great !

You are correct. I think the track is too dark. I will fix that in the next version or maybe version 2.0 after the version 1.0 tracks are done.

I somehow missed that. :-o

Along with Montreal v1.0, Hockenheim has been updated to v1.1. Not a lot of noticeable change, but there are quite a few little fixes and additions in there. :-D

Anyone try this with 2.0? Just curious if it works or not.

Yes, it works. It's even a bit faster than before, even though there's still some bug to be ironed out in the Radeon 8500 driver (should come with the soon to be released 2.1).
Anyway, yes, now hires textures are more enjoyable and on more setups.

BTW, VGP2 works nicely also on my small Efika, much better than expected. I think that the hires gfx would be an overkill there, however (400MHz CPU with 128MB of RAM...).

Kind regards,
Andrea

Since I do not have a MorphOS setup at this time, I would need some feedback on whether this is correct. When the game was available for Mac and MorphOS, I believe the executables were different (of course) but I believe both versions used the exact same base archive. If that is true, this update should work. Please let me know if it does not.

Your assumption is correct (the base archive is the same for all versions, the executable is the only thing differing), and of course everything works perfectly also on the MorphOS version.
Just tested the new carset, very nice job as usual! A mandatory upgrade for those playing VGP2.

Kind regards,
Andrea

Yeah, the only base archive I do not have is the MorphOS version. The Windows version has a few differences in the 'gui' folder than the Mac/MorphOS version. So I have to work a bit on that folder for Windows. I thought I remembered the Mac and MorphOS version sharing the exact same base archive which works out perfect as my Windows based players have been declining. The Windows side already has quite a few sims.

Thanks for the information.

hi.
i've downloaded the latest updates: drivers_hd, icone, menugraphics and one track: montreal.
after installed all of the files, the game runs, but i dont see new fancy menugraphics, and i couldnt select any of the track nor even montreal - the program just returns to main menu every time i select a track. melbourne started once, no more.

i used the hd versions for all updates. running vgp2 at 800*600.

update: i guess i've found it: theres only 256 mb ram in my pegasos... only 12 mb left when im in vgp2's main menu at 1024*768... of course it cant load the tracks...

I use SD cars and LD tracks, looks and works great. I've checked also SD and HD tracks but they are too grainy for me :). LD tracks suit me well and ofcoz require less RAM and power :). In addition LD cars are in too low quality, they look horrible in interior mode. About menus you need to rename files manually. I preffer an old gui though. Maybe small listing of files will be useful for JaguarGod. http://rafb.net/p/w8MQxY48.html .

Thank you so much for posting the list!!!

Don't download the menu graphics as I was mistaken. Only one of the images will work. I explain below.

----------------

So, it's the exact opposite of what I thought! The 'gui' folder matches the Windows version! The Mac version uses four pictures split between the different setup windows (mainsfondo.raw through mainsfondo3.raw) in 1024X768 while the windows and MorphOS version use different images (example; risultatisfondo.raw and pistasfondo.raw) that are 512X384.

I will let you know when I finish these. I apologize for the mistake as I thought it was the other way around. I will also correct the site today to reflect this.
