Thorsten Mampel submitted the following report to amiga-news.de. It contains information about upcoming MorphOS features and new third-party software developments.

"On the second day of the Amiga Meeting, most of the present developers demonstrated their products.

  • At noon, the first presentation was held by Guido Mersmann who showed the current development state of his Media Center application for MorphOS, which is especially compelling at handing audio files so far. The integration of video playback and internet radio is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
  • After this, Stefan Kleinheinrich showcased the current state of his GTK-to-MUI wrappers that is supposed to ease the porting of GTK-based Linux applications to MorphOS.
  • David Roeskamm showed Enemy II, a platform shooteer title. The game is close to completion, looks like a lot of fun and will also run on Classic Amigas with ECS / OCS chipsets.
  • Carsten Siegner introduced Blue Paint, which is a vector-based paint program for MorphOS. The software can read‏ and save files in the ODF (Open Office), SVG, Postscript and PDF formats.
  • Joachim Kae‏er showed off an advanced version of his Coiolis Framework that is intented to simplify development for all platforms that are part of the extended Amiga family.
  • Last but not least, Mark Olsen, Frank Mariak and Axel Knabel demonstrated MorphOS 2.4 which now supports Mac minis as well. Furthermore, they participated in a question-and-answer session about the on-going MorphOS developments. A preview version of MorphOS running on an eMac had already been shown on the day before at the Amiga Meeting.
As a bit of a midnight surprise, Mark "Bigfoot" Olsen showed off a brand new 3D graphics driver late at night that enabled a close to 100% speed increase while playing Quake 3 on a Mac mini. The measured frame rate was about 100 fps! On Pegasos 2 systems, similar speed increasements are to be expected. It remains to be seen when the new driver will be mature enough to be released. Mark also created a version of Quake 3 specifically for Efika owners. It will be included on the upcoming Amiga Meeting Party DVD."

Interesting news!
There's a lot of good things to see and more are coming.
The part concerning new 3d graphic drivers is a real gem! McMini and Efika owners will be really happy!!
Oh, well... Pegasos owners like me too... ;-)

Sounds like a great show! Where can I get more information about Guido's Media Center project? I saw some pics - very interested in following this closer if anyone can point me the way.

Thanks.

Yeah... the pics are really what sparked my interest and reminded me of his project. I was hoping there was a new source of information on it/blog or something more current. Thanks.

That sounds kind of interesting... is there any more information? Reports anyone?

Kind regards,
