Software : Beta release of Ultimate pack 1.6.0 (for MorphOS 2.5)

The French website www.meta-morphos.org is pleased to announce the immediate availability of a beta version of Ultimate pack 1.6.0 for MorphOS 2.5. This pack will allow you to quickly and effortlessly obtain a more complete MorphOS environment. Included features are: Mail, chat, calendar, address book, music and video players, drawing software, photo organizer, E-UAE integration in Ambient and GetVideo integration in OWB (via contextual menu), and much more.

The icons directory, wallpapers and MIME types have been contributed by Patbest. This pack is not an official MorphOS update but a community-driven add-on. For installation, simply unzip the archive on a clean installation of MorphOS 2.5. Cautionary users should remember to create a backup of your old system.

Important notice: The default language is French. Please remember to choose your preferred language after the installation.

Download: packultimate_160beta.lha

Does it include python?

I kindly remind of the fact that I can deliver a key I was given by Panergy Software, in order to achieve MS Excel viewer under MorphOS. It runs under Basilisk II emulation so this all might be another option to distribute (all the more MacOS 7.5 is freed from apple). So I opt for Basilisk II with the said keyfile (just PM me if you decide to include this). MacOS and the said app - IcXL can be downloaded separately for both volume reasons and redistribution issues.

Unless of course, the pack includes GUI Excel reader already.

Hello DD,

No, Python is not installed.
I don't know what version to install (2.x or 3.x)
It's right, Blender and Gribouillis will be good in the pack.

About Basilisc II and IcXL, i prefer to install only MorphOS sowftware, thanks a lot for your proposition!

Awesome job and thanks a lot for the time and energy. When you say just unzip and drop onto a morphos installion what do you mean by that unarc it to sys: ? Whatever happened to a gui installer where you can check and uncheck programs and software to install or not?

hello magnetic,

yes you must unarc to sys: (on fresh install of MorphOS 2.5 on it).

About installer, there will be an installer to install choice pack ultimate, games, emulators when pack ultimate 1.6.0 will be finalised.

I suggest python 2.x since most code is still maintained in 2.x and not officially ported to 3.x (also, the current python in most recent linuxes is 2.6 AFAIR, and not the 3.x).

About the Basilisk I understand IcXL issue - you want the native MorphOS apps. So let us forget about this IcXL. But basilisk itself is MorphOS native :-)

Thanks again for your FANTASTIC project. I re-started Amiga adventure with AmiKit and AmigaSYS and they both have rich packs. Also Icaros deliver the complete setup. Not sure but plans are about OS4 too AFAIR.

Unfortunately I will have to wait to try out Your bundle, since I just sold my Mini. But only a couple of months.
